Kanban Taskboard

See your work in motion. The Kanban Taskboard shows where every task stands and lets you move it forward with a single drag.

What is a Kanban Taskboard?

Kanban is a visual workflow method developed at Toyota in the 1940s to limit work-in-progress and make the flow of work visible. The word "kanban" means signboard in Japanese — the core idea is to represent each unit of work as a card and move that card through columns representing stages of completion.

In personal task management, a Kanban board typically has three columns: Pending (tasks you haven't started), In Progress (what you're actively working on), and Done (what you've completed). The visual format makes it immediately obvious where work is piling up, what's actively being handled, and how much you've accomplished.

The power of Kanban over a simple to-do list is that it externalizes your mental model of work in flight. Instead of keeping a running tab in your head of what's started and what's not, the board shows you.

How can it help you be more productive?

  • See the whole picture at onceEvery task and its status is visible on one screen. No hunting through lists to find out whether something has been started.
  • Limit work in progressSeeing too many items in In Progress is a natural signal to finish before starting something new.
  • Satisfying to completeDragging a task to Done provides a clear, visible sense of progress that a checkmark in a list can't quite match.
  • Priority colors carry overEach card shows its priority color so you can see at a glance whether In Progress is full of the right things.

How it works in TaskSolver

The Kanban Taskboard shows all your tasks in three columns: Pending, In Progress, and Done. Each task card displays its title, priority color, category, and due date so you have full context without opening the task.

To move a task between columns, drag it horizontally. Alternatively, tap a task card to open it and change its status from the detail view. Either way, the board updates instantly and the change persists across all views — if you move a task to Done on the board, it shows as complete in your main list and the Priority Board too.

At the start of each day, many users review the Pending column, move their chosen tasks for the day into In Progress, and use the board as a live view of the day's work. The Done column accumulates through the day, providing a visible, motivating record of progress.
