Priority Levels

Not all tasks are created equal. Priority Levels make sure you always know which one to tackle first.

What are Priority Levels?

Priority Levels are a four-tier classification system that lets you mark every task as Critical, High, Medium, or Low. Instead of leaving every item on equal footing — which means you'll naturally drift toward whichever is easiest — the system gives you a clear signal about what deserves your energy first.

The four levels map to real decision-making thresholds. Critical tasks are drop-everything items: a production bug, a deadline in two hours, a call you can't miss. High tasks matter and need to happen today or tomorrow. Medium tasks are real work but can flex. Low tasks are "nice to do" items that shouldn't steal time from anything above them.

Having four distinct levels rather than the common three is intentional. The Critical tier creates a clear separation between genuine emergencies and regular high-priority work, which reduces the tendency to label everything "High" when things feel busy.

How can it help you be more productive?

  • Always know what's nextA sorted priority list means you never spend mental energy deciding what to work on — the answer is already there.
  • Stop overloading High priorityThe Critical tier reserves space for true emergencies so High can stay honest: important work that isn't on fire.
  • Powers the Priority BoardThe priority you assign each task is exactly what the Priority Board counts and displays, giving you an instant workload overview on your home screen.
  • Color-coded at a glanceEach level has its own color indicator — red for Critical down to blue for Low — so you can scan a long list and see where the weight is.

How it works in TaskSolver

When you create or edit a task, you assign one of the four priority levels with a single tap. The selection is reflected immediately across every view: the main task list, the Kanban board, the Priority Board, and the Reminders section all pick up the priority you've set.

Your task list is sorted by priority by default. Critical tasks appear at the top, followed by High, Medium, and Low. Within each tier, tasks are further sorted by due date so the most pressing items always float to the surface.

Changing a priority is instant — tap the indicator on any task card to cycle through the levels. TaskSolver updates the sort order, the matrix placement, and the reminder priority in real time, so your dashboard always reflects your current thinking.
